Water Ionizers: Health Product or Water Gadget

Water Ionizers
Health Product Or Water Gadget?
Over the years water gadgets ranging from magnets to ionizers have come and gone on the market. These devices which are often sold through MLM and come with big price tags claim to be the key to youth and improved health.
They tell a great story about how drinking alkaline water will fight disease and improve overall health. They use pseudoscience to support their story. Pseudoscience is a “pretend science” that lacks the controlled methodologies needed to give unbiased information. For example, they may say that a body in an alkaline state fights diseases so if you drink alkaline water the natural conclusion is that your body will become alkaline and fight diseases. There is no scientific proof that supports this but it makes for a great sounding story.
Medically speaking it is crucially important that our blood be maintained at a pH of 6.35 - 7.45. If it is lower then hit is in an acidosis state. If over the range it is in alkylosis. Prolonged states of acidosis or alkylosis can be serious and can be linked to kidney failure.
What the water gadget sellers don’t tell you is that the acids in our stomach neutralizes the alkalinity in the water. Water is absorbed into our body through our intestines not our stomach which has natural enzymes to increase the alkalinity of the water as it is absorbed into our body.
Our bodies already do a lot of what Ionizers claim to do, for Free..
Why are these water gadgets usually sold through MLM and not the water filtration industry? The industry is not afraid to sell $2 - $3K water systems. There are many whole home systems sold by the water industry in this price range. So why doesn’t the water industry typically sell these products? Because water professionals know better. They know there isn’t scientific evidence to back the claims and that they can offer much better value with proven filtration and purification methods.
If you attend a “demonstration” you may find that the presenter spends as much time talking about the business opportunity to sell the product than the actual benefits of the product. When you dig down you may find that a very significant portion of the selling price goes to paying commissions to all the people up the MLM line.
In my own business I have had to install conventional purification systems into homes that had previously bought a “water gadget” of some kind throgh MLM. They could no longer get support or service for the product so the $2K system just became a great door stop. The worst part is that the proven systems used by the water industry are usually a fraction of the price of many water gadgets.
Getting unbiased information about Ionizers is difficult because most web sites that offer information on Ionizers are related to some one or some organization trying to sell Ionizers.
If you are considering purchasing a Ionizer or any other water gadget take the time to talk to water purification companies. You will be sure to find viable alternatives without breaking your bank book.
